
Barry Gower is an innovative printmaker whose work is deeply inspired by the intricate patterns of nature. He employs environmentally-friendly, state-of-the-art processes to produce prints that showcase fine detail, unexpected colours, and rich textures, all with a captivating abstract quality. Utilizing photopolymer etching, Barry merges photography, sketching, and found objects, resulting in striking images that possess a contemporary edge.
With a BSc in Biology and a long career in advertising behind him, Barry transitioned to printmaking over ten years ago after taking an evening class at West Herts College in Watford—an experience that ignited his passion for the medium. His talent gained recognition when one of his prints was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, where the entire edition sold out, marking a delightful milestone in his artistic journey.
His Print Studio is based in The Yard, Matley’s Yard, Wharf Hill, Winchester SO23 9NQ and he has been a member of Cowprint Artists’ Group since September 2024.
