Having been a keen photographer and previous president of Winchester Photographic Society, I started printmaking nearly 10 years ago after being gifted a linocut beginners kit. Various short courses at Badger Press, Red Hot Press and Handprinted then followed, and I have explored linocuts, collagraph, card cuts, drypoint and tetrapak intaglio printmaking. During the start of the Covid 19 pandemic I joined an online art group (or 3) and have experimented with mixed media art journaling, gel plate printing, developing sketchbooks and have also finally started drawing! I continue to photograph regularly although mostly on an iPhone these days. For subject matter, I am drawn to the coast, flaky paint, rust, dereliction and the interaction of people and industries with the landscape.
I enjoy walking (occasionally with Southampton ramblers but more usually with my 5 and 7-year-olds) and sometimes SUP on the river Hamble (although I cannot actually stand up!) BC (before children) I was learning to sail (yachting not dingy) and hope to return to this one day.
In my spare time, I work as a Consultant Geriatrician and Medical Examiner in Portsmouth, with a specialist interest in Parkinson’s disease.
