In 2012, a passionate collective of artist printmakers, initially connected through Red Hot Press in Southampton, founded Cowprint Artists’ Group. Today, our thriving community boasts over 30 dedicated members who collaborate on diverse and exciting printmaking projects. From international print exchanges to successful exhibitions, Cowprint Artists’ Group has become a beacon for creative and supportive group for a diverse range of talent.
Our monthly meetings in Southampton are a cornerstone of our community, featuring discussions on printmaking techniques, guest speakers, and collaborative projects. Additionally, we host monthly sketching sessions in and around Southampton to ignite new creative ideas and inspiration.
The name “Cowprint” pays homage to our roots, originating from our first meeting location at the old Cattle Market, where Red Hot Press was situated in the Corn Exchange.

Join Cowprint Artists’ Group – Your Creative Printmaking Community in Southampton
At Cowprint Artists’ Group, we provide a dynamic platform for members to share their work, receive feedback, and gain support from fellow printmakers through regular meetings, both virtually and in person. We foster the exchange of information, including technical problem-solving and resource sharing for printing materials and equipment.
Our group offers numerous learning opportunities through guest speakers and organizes sketching outings to spark new ideas and creativity. We are committed to collaborative projects, such as the 20:20 print exchange and Mayflower 400, and actively seek and organize exhibition and selling opportunities at venues like Hilliers, God’s House Tower, Five Arrows Gallery and the local Wayzgoose.
As a community, we pool resources and secure member discounts from printmaking suppliers to support our artists. We welcome new members of any expertise level who are passionate about sharing their creative processes, tools, techniques, reference books, and addressing the challenges of printmaking.
For specific exhibitions our committee members reserve the right to implement a selection process.
