Monoprint/Monotype
Collagraph
Linocut
Lin graduated from West Surrey College of Art and Design with a B.A(hons) in printed textiles. She then started to work as a textile designer, acquiring an agent in New York, who sold her designs to Ralph Lauren and Benneton amongst many others. Eventually she also became interested in teaching drawing and painting, specifically watercolours, which she did for many years to both adults and children.
Lin has exhibited her work in various galleries throughout the country and has been shortlisted a few times for the RA Summer exhibition. She has also taken part in Hampshire Open Studios and The Landmark Midsummer/Autumn art fair in Teddington. She was an active member of the former Red Hot Press and Badger Press and exhibited with them. Lin is an enthusiastic member of Winchester Urban sketchers and Cowprint.
Her work is probably best described as ‘contemporary/figurative’. She finds the accidental happenings of monoprinting inspirational and these often act as a stepping stone to further creativity. Her ongoing preoccupation is with the sea and the sky and the liminal zone between the waters edge and the lands end. Historically, this is a place of arrivals and departures, both a happy and a sad place. This ambivalence is what makes it so compelling.
Lin’s work is held mainly in private collections in the UK, USA and Australia and has been featured in various publications over the years.
